Rafael Pedemonte

I am a Chilean historian based in Belgium since April 2017 and working within the History Department at Gent University. After living in France for five years, where I taught Latin American contemporary history and wrote a PhD dissertation, I moved to Gent to pursue my research on the "idea" of revolution during the Latin American 20th century, with a particular emphasis on Cuba (and a growing interest on Bolivia, Chile, Nicaragua, and Venezuela). I am constantly travelling to Cuba and Chile in order to collect archival material, get acquainted with current social and political developments and foster collaboration between European and Latin American institutions.
